Inspired by some beautiful giant allium chistophii seed heads a friend gave me a few years ago and which I used to adorn the studio as Christmas decorations, I decided it was about time I tried to create something which was a bit longer lasting and could maybe make a winter garden look a little more interesting!
This is the prototype and is created in porcelain, wire and metal rod. A very labour intensive process, but the effect is almost what I intended! When the Lancashire show is over, I will develop the idea and hopefully make improvements, but I think as a piece of sculpture it sits very well amongst the greenery of my garden. It could also look stunning as an indoor sculptural piece in a contemporary setting or conservatory.
It will be on display amongst all the tulip and sunflower sculptures at the show which starts next weekend, Friday 7th to Sunday 9th August. I can be found in the ‘Meet The Maker’s’ marquee, so come and say hello!
